| How it works | CBT teaches skills to manage the physical and emotional impact of hot flashes, including pacing activities, breathing techniques, and cognitive reframing. It does not eliminate hot flashes but reduces how bothersome they are. | Phyto-SERMs are plant-derived compounds that bind to estrogen receptors and weakly modulate estrogen activity. Tissue-selective, SERM-like activity — acting in brain and bone without stimulating breast or uterine tissue — has been demonstrated only for DT56a (Femarelle), a proprietary soy-derived extract, largely in preclinical animal studies. Generic red clover and soy isoflavones are non-selective phytoestrogens. |
