Privacy Policy
This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We collect as little as possible, and we never sell your data.
About this policy
In short: This Privacy Policy describes how NonHormonal.com (the "Site", "we", "us") handles information when you visit https://nonhormonal.com. It applies to all visitors regardless of whether you fill out a form or simply browse.
We are an educational and informational website about non-hormonal birth control and menopause relief. We are not a covered entity or business associate under HIPAA, and we do not provide medical services, so the information you share with us through this website is not protected health information under HIPAA. This policy is written in plain language; if anything is unclear, please contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.
This policy does not cover the practices of third-party websites we link to, such as telehealth providers, pharmacies, retailers, or clinics. When you leave our Site, their privacy policies apply.
Information we collect
In short: We collect a small amount of information you choose to give us (like your name and email when you contact us) and basic technical information about your visit (like pages viewed and browser type) through analytics.
Information you provide directly
If you use our contact or "Report an error" form, you may submit your name, email address, a topic, and a message. We use your email address solely to reply to you. Your submission is delivered to our internal inbox and is not posted publicly. You are never required to provide this information to browse the Site.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we use analytics to understand how the Site is used so we can improve it. We use Google Analytics 4, which collects standard, non-identifying usage data such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, the type of device and browser you use, your approximate region (derived from IP address), and how you reached the Site. Google may set cookies on your device for this purpose. We do not receive your personal identity through this service, and we do not use it to identify you as an individual.
Information from your searches and tool use
When you use the provider directory, the search filters and zip code you enter are sent to our server only to return results, and successful responses are cached on our content delivery network. We do not link these searches to your identity. The Method Recommender runs entirely in your browser — the answers you give are processed on your device and reflected in the page address, and are not transmitted to or stored on our servers.
Technical information for security
To protect our forms from abuse and spam, our infrastructure provider may process your IP address briefly to apply rate limits. This is used only to prevent automated abuse and is not retained as a profile of you. Our hosting and email providers may also keep short-lived server logs as part of normal operations and security monitoring.
How we use information
In short: We use your information to respond to your messages, improve the Site, keep it secure, and keep our content accurate.
Specifically, we use the information we collect to: reply to messages and error reports you send us; understand aggregate usage patterns so we can improve content, navigation, and performance; detect and prevent spam, fraud, and abuse; and maintain and operate the Site. We do not use your information to make automated decisions that significantly affect you, and we do not use it to profile you for advertising on other websites.
Cookies and similar technologies
In short: We use cookies only for analytics. We do not use cookies for advertising or to track you across other websites.
Google Analytics may set cookies on your device to measure usage. These cookies do not identify you personally and are not used to serve ads. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time, and you can opt out of Google Analytics for all websites by installing Google's official opt-out browser add-on. Blocking cookies will not prevent you from reading our content or using the provider directory.
Third parties we rely on
In short: A small set of service providers process data on our behalf. We do not sell your data to anyone.
We rely on the following categories of third parties: our cloud hosting and infrastructure provider, which stores and serves the Site and processes requests; our email delivery provider, which transmits contact-form submissions to our inbox; and our analytics provider (Google). Each of these providers processes limited data only as needed to deliver their service, and is bound by its own obligations to protect that data. When you click an outbound link to a telehealth provider, pharmacy, retailer, or clinic, that third party's privacy policy governs any information you share with them.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising purposes.
Data retention
In short: We keep contact messages as long as needed to respond and keep our records, and analytics data is retained according to our analytics provider's settings.
Contact and error-report messages are retained in our inbox for as long as is necessary to respond, follow up, and maintain a reasonable record of corrections made to the Site. Rate-limiting and security data is short-lived and expires automatically. Analytics data is retained by our analytics provider in accordance with its standard retention settings. If you ask us to delete a message you sent us, we will remove it from our active inbox.
Your privacy rights
In short: Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of certain uses.
If you are a resident of California, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with data-protection laws, you may have rights such as: requesting access to or a copy of your personal information; requesting that we correct inaccurate information; requesting that we delete your personal information; objecting to or restricting certain processing; and, where applicable, opting out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. Because we do not sell or share your personal information for advertising, no opt-out of sale is necessary, but you may still submit a request.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details at the bottom of this page. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Children's privacy
In short: The Site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Our content is intended for adults seeking information about reproductive health. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
Security
In short: We use reasonable technical measures to protect information, but no method of transmission over the internet is fully secure.
We rely on industry-standard safeguards provided by our infrastructure partners, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS), rate limiting, and spam filtering. However, no website or transmission method can be guaranteed fully secure. Please avoid sending sensitive personal or medical details through our contact form — it is intended for site feedback and error reports, not for communicating private health information.
Changes to this policy
In short: We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the bottom shows when it was last revised.
If we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date and, where appropriate, note the change on the Site. Continued use of the Site after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
Contact us
In short: Questions or privacy requests? Use our contact form and we'll get back to you.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or want to exercise a privacy right, you can reach us through our contact form. Select "Other" as the topic and let us know your request is privacy-related. For verification, we may need to confirm your identity or that you are authorized to act on someone's behalf before responding to certain requests.
